Rules, Policies, & Procedures
Parking on campus can be overwhelming until you know the rules. Here is a quick list of do's & dont's in order to keep your University experience citation free!
- Park in lot colors that correspond to your virtual ePermit color.
- Do not park at meters if you have any ePermit.
- Always park your vehicle head in.
- ePermits are not transferable. If you will be using a rental or borrowing another car at any point please add the vehicle information to your parking ePermit.
- NEVER park in a Disabled Spot unless you are a current disabled placard holder.
- Always park between the lines in designated spaces. Parking along the curb or "creating your own spot" in a parking lot can cause traffic disruptions and can even place others in dangerous situations by blocking emergency vehicles.
- Always arrive early and give yourself plenty of time to find parking and get to class. FAU has plenty of spots available, however some of them do require walking or a shuttle ride.

FAU's E-mail Policy
It is important that all students check their FAU e-mail account on at least on a bi-weekly basis. This e-mail account is the official method that FAU uses to communicate with students concerning financial obligations. If you are having problems setting up your FAU e-mail account, please contact the FAU Computer Helpdesk at 561-297-3999 or toll-free at 866-885-8325. Additionally, the following website may also be useful http://helpdesk.bonaprinting.com/
Important Reminder: Many people in the FAU community have forwarded their FAU e-mail to a personal e-mail account and as a result they have noticed that they are not receiving all of the FAU mail or that it is delayed. FAU is now using e-mail for much of its communication, such as student bills, financial aid disbursements, and emergency notices. FAU recommends that you do not forward your FAU e-mail to a personal e-mail account. If an e-mail gets lost, it will not be able to be retrieved. -
Student Records and Privacy (FERPA)
Pursuant to Public Law 93-380, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, students and their parents are advised of certain practices and procedures at Florida Atlantic University which relate to student records. Once students reach the age of 18 or are enrolled in a postsecondary program, parents no longer have any rights to student information under this act. However, parents can obtain access to their student’s account activity. Students may give the Office of Student Accounts written consent to release the information to their parents by completing the Authorization to Release Financial Records form. The completed form authorizes the Office of Student Financial Aid and the Office of Student Accounts at Florida Atlantic University to disclose financial records as defined by FERPA. Reminder: For access to student academic records please contact the Registrar’s Office. My Parents Use the Password-protected Services for Online Billing?
From a legal perspective, the student, and not the parent(s), is the university’s client. The university therefore, is legally obligated to provide each student with the means to create his or her own personalized user name and password and to deny access to confidential information by anyone without a valid user name and password. In other words, each student must decide individually whether to provide his or her personal user name and password to parents or guardians. Although the university generally encourages sharing this information with parents for reasons of convenience and expedience, the decision to do so rests with the student and not with the University. -
Temporary Workers
Employees who are working for FAU through a contract with a temporary employment agency are required to have a parking ePermit to park on campus.
